Speaking of VM…

Microsoft is going after VMWare, according to a Reuters report. Microsoft’s virtualization product, code-named Viridian, is scheduled to go into Windows Server 2008, and slated to ship 6 months after Server 2008 does. The MS ‘hypervisor’ manager is supposed to work with Viridian, VMWare and XenSource… ‘embrace and extend’ tactics?

Jump-starting Ubuntu networking?

So, Ubuntu is running OK, but not connecting to the network under Parallels for some reason, even though all the Net settings - DHCP and the gateway - seem to be set OK. Anybody have experience solving this? Guess it wouldn’t be Linux without at least one config problem…

Woo hoo… Ubuntu running in VM

So we found the Parallels 3.0 uninstaller (lacking any response from Parallels support) and found our Parallels 2.0 .dmg package, and took 3.0 off our Core Duo Mini - its kernel panics making it a basically useless $59 ‘upgrade’, and decided to hope for the best with the older, but previously reliable Parallels 2.0.
